A New Era In Reading

The Kindle is a new electronic reader by Amazon. It ushers in a new era for the human race. Man first invented the written word. Gutenberg invented movable type and that invention changed the world forever. With the marriage of computers and the written word, the stage is set for the Kindle to spark a revolution in reading like we have never seen!

The Kindle is designed to be held like a book as its size is about that of an average paperback (7.5 x 5.3 x 0.7 inches). it is lightweight at 10.4 ounces.

It has a six inch display screen that uses remarkable technology by a company called E-ink. The display actually looks like printed words on paper rather then a computer screen!

It can hold about 200 books and the battery lasts about 30 hours on a charge. It takes about two hours to recharge.

You do NOT need to connect it to a computer to download new books. It has a system by Sprint called Whispernet that allows you to connect anywhere to the Amazon store not just at WiFi hot spots.

THERE ARE NO MONTHLY FEES! including fees for the wireless network.

There are over 100,000 books available to download and the list is growing EVERYDAY. You can also subscribe to newspapers, magazines and blogs. There are many resources for downloading free e-Books on line that I will be discussing latter.

But don't listen to me, watch the following video featuring best selling authors talk about the Kindle and hear how ground breaking it is!
